The Evening Telegraph Challenge Cup (initially known as the City of Discovery Cup) is a pre-season football competition introduced in 2005, based in Dundee, involving the two Dundee clubs - Dundee and Dundee United. In 2007, the tournament will be scheduled for an international weekend during the season, as Dundee United played Barcelona and did not wish to play a pre-season derby so close after that match.

Famous quotes containing the words evening, challenge and/or cup:
“The evening falters. Couples in their coats
Are leaving gaps already, and the rest
Move tables closer.”
—Philip Larkin (19221986)
“She might have been old once and now, miraculously, young againbut with the memory of that other life intact. She seemed to know the world down there in the dark hall and beyond for what it was. Yet knowing, she still longed to leave this safe, sunlit place at the top of the house for the challenge there.”
—Paule Marshall (b. 1929)
“I write mainly for the kindly race of women. I am their sister, and in no way exempt from their sorrowful lot. I have drank [sic] the cup of their limitations to the dregs, and if my experience can help any sad or doubtful woman to outleap her own shadow, and to stand bravely out in the sunshine to meet her destiny, whatever it may be, I shall have done well; I have not written this book in vain.”
—Amelia E. Barr (18311919)
