The European Monitoring Centre on Change (EMCC) is "a place for exchanging practice, information and ideas on the management and anticipation of change," consisting primarily of an informational website. It was founded at a 2001 conference on "What drives change?", which was organized by the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions. The EMCC continues to be maintained by that Foundation.

Famous quotes containing the words european, centre and/or change:
“When the inhabitants of some sequestered island first descry the big canoe of the European rolling through the blue waters towards their shores, they rush down to the beach in crowds, and with open arms stand ready to embrace the strangers. Fatal embrace! They fold to their bosoms the vipers whose sting is destined to poison all their joys; and the instinctive feeling of love within their breasts is soon converted into the bitterest hate.”
—Herman Melville (18191891)
“To live and die amongst foreigners may seem less absurd than to live persecuted or tortured by ones fellow countrymen.... But to emigrate is always to dismantle the centre of the world, and so to move into a lost, disoriented one of fragments.”
—John Berger (b. 1926)
“A fanatic is one who cant change his mind and wont change the subject.”
—Winston Churchill (18741965)
