European Liberal Youth

European Liberal Youth (LYMEC - Liberal and Radical Youth Movement of the European Community) is an international organisation of Liberal youth movements - mostly the youth wings of members of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Party (formerly the European Liberal, Democrat and Reform Party).

Full members status is held to the European Youth Forum (YFJ) which operates within the Council of Europe and European Union areas and works closely with both these bodies.

LYMEC is the official youth-wing of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) Party, and holds separate votes in the statutory bodies of the ALDE Party. It is normally known as LYMEC - European Youth, since it has members in many nations in Europe. One of the most notable exceptions is France.

Famous quotes containing the words european, liberal and/or youth:

Being human signifies, for each one of us, belonging to a class, a society, a country, a continent and a civilization; and for us European earth-dwellers, the adventure played out in the heart of the New World signifies in the first place that it was not our world and that we bear responsibility for the crime of its destruction.
    Claude Lévi-Strauss (b. 1908)

Barnard’s greatest war service ... was the continuance of full-scale instruction in the liberal arts ... It was Barnard’s responsibility to keep alive in the minds of young people the great liberal tradition of the past and the study of philosophy, of history, of Greek.
    Virginia Crocheron Gildersleeve (1877–1965)

If the quick fire of youth light not your mind,
You are no maiden, but a monument.
When you are dead, you should be such a one
As you are now; for you are cold and stern.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)
