Achievements
Under a Memorandum of Understanding signed by UEFA in 2008, the ECA would be recognized as the sole body representing the interests of clubs at European level. As part of the Memorandum of Understanding, UEFA also agreed to distribute every four years an amount from the European Championship to national associations for them to pass on to their clubs who have contributed to the successful staging of a European Championship. The target distribution amount for Euro 2008 is €43.5 million ($62.8 million), with the payments made on a "per day per player" basis of approximately €4,000. As part of the planned moves, UEFA and FIFA will also enter into a series of commitments to the clubs, including financial contributions for player participation in European Championships and World Cups, subject to the approval of their respective bodies.
It was agreed that a transitional ECA Board would represent the ECA and its 16 founding members until the next general assembly met at the end of the season, when elections for a new Executive Board were held. The ECA Board comprises eleven members, plus the four representatives appointed by the Executive Board to the UEFA Professional Football Strategy Council. The ECA also provides half of the members of the UEFA Club Competitions Committee.
The transitional ECA Board was: Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (chairman; FC Bayern Munich), Joan Laporta (vice-chairman; FC Barcelona), John F. McClelland (vice-chairman; Rangers FC), Umberto Gandini (vice-chairman; AC Milan), Peter Kenyon (Chelsea FC), Maarten Fontein (AZ Alkmaar), and Jean-Michel Aulas (Olympique Lyonnais).
A renewed Memorandum of Understanding for the period 2012-2018 was signed the 22nd of March between ECA and UEFA on the occasion of the XXXVI Ordinary UEFA Congress . The memorandum was signed by ECA Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and UEFA President Michel Platini. It paves the way for a fruitful relationship between Europe's football governing body and the association of European football clubs.
In September 2012, ECA published a Report on Youth Academies in Europe, which provides a comparable perspective that underlines different perspectives and philosophies of youth academies across Europe.

Famous quotes containing the word achievements:
“Freedom of enterprise was from the beginning not altogether a blessing. As the liberty to work or to starve, it spelled toil, insecurity, and fear for the vast majority of the population. If the individual were no longer compelled to prove himself on the market, as a free economic subject, the disappearance of this freedom would be one of the greatest achievements of civilization.”
—Herbert Marcuse (18981979)
“Fathers are still considered the most important doers in our culture, and in most families they are that. Girls see them as the family authorities on careers, and so fathers encouragement and counsel is important to them. When fathers dont take their daughters achievements and plans seriously, girls sometimes have trouble taking themselves seriously.”
—Stella Chess (20th century)
“Like all writers, he measured the achievements of others by what they had accomplished, asking of them that they measure him by what he envisaged or planned.”
—Jorge Luis Borges (18991986)
