European Association For Decision Making

The European Association for Decision Making, or EADM, is an interdisciplinary organization dedicated to the academic study of theories of decision making. The organization is an outgrowth of a series of biannual conferences held in Europe between 1969 and 1993, when the Association was officially organized.

The organization sponsors the annual de Finetti Award, named after statistician Bruno de Finetti, and organizes the biannual SPUDM conferences on probability and decision making.

Famous quotes containing the words european, association, decision and/or making:

God grant we may not have a European war thrust upon us, and for such a stupid reason too, no I don’t mean stupid, but to have to go to war on account of tiresome Servia beggars belief.
    Mary (1867–1953)

It is not merely the likeness which is precious ... but the association and the sense of nearness involved in the thing ... the fact of the very shadow of the person lying there fixed forever! It is the very sanctification of portraits I think—and it is not at all monstrous in me to say ... that I would rather have such a memorial of one I dearly loved, than the noblest Artist’s work ever produced.
    Elizabeth Barrett Browning (1806–1861)

The impulse to perfection cannot exist where the definition of perfection is the arbitrary decision of authority. That which is born in loneliness and from the heart cannot be defended against the judgment of a committee of sycophants. The volatile essences which make literature cannot survive the clichés of a long series of story conferences.
    Raymond Chandler (1888–1959)

They were making their way with the resigned expression of those who are condemned to hope forever.
    Charles Baudelaire (1821–1867)
