Captive Care
Five-lined Skinks can be maintained in captivity with minimal care. Note, however, that keeping skinks from the wild is illegal in some states and other states may impose restrictions such as having a license. Skinks should be offered live insects. Water should be offered in shallow non-metal bowl.

Famous quotes containing the words captive and/or care:
“There a captive sat in chains
Crooning ditties treasured well
From his Africs torrid plains.
Sole estate his sire bequeathed,
Hapless sire to hapless son,
Was the wailing song he breathed,
And his chain when life was done.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“Still, I am prepared for this voyage, and for anything else you may care to mention.
Not that I am not afraid, but there is very little time left.
You have probably made travel arrangements, and know the feeling.
Suddenly, one morning, the little train arrives in the station, but oh, so big
It is! Much bigger and faster than anyone told you.”
—John Ashbery (b. 1927)
