Accidents and Incidents
As of September 2011, Aviation Safety Network records 60 accident/incident events for Ethiopian Airlines since 1965, plus six accidents/incidents for Ethiopian Air Lines, the airline's former name. The company suffered several hijacking episodes throughout its history. One of them ended up with the carrier's deadliest accident when the plane plunged into the Indian Ocean due to fuel starvation. Despite this, Ethiopian Airlines has a good safety record, by contrast to other African airlines.

Famous quotes containing the words accidents and/or incidents:
“Depression moods lead, almost invariably, to accidents. But, when they occur, our mood changes again, since the accident shows we can draw the world in our wake, and that we still retain some degree of power even when our spirits are low. A series of accidents creates a positively light-hearted state, out of consideration for this strange power.”
—Jean Baudrillard (b. 1929)
“An element of exaggeration clings to the popular judgment: great vices are made greater, great virtues greater also; interesting incidents are made more interesting, softer legends more soft.”
—Walter Bagehot (18261877)
