Famous quotes containing the word praise:
“What were our praise to them? They eat
Quiets wild heart, like daily meat;
Who when night thickens are afloat
On dappled skins in a glass boat,
Far out under a windless sky;
While over them birds of Aengus fly....”
—William Butler Yeats (18651939)
“If I thought that I could speak with discrimination and impartiality of the nations of Christendom, I should praise them, but it tasks me too much. They seem to be the most civil and humane, but I may be mistaken.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“We praise times past, while we times present use;
Yet due the worship which to each we give.”
—Ovid (Publius Ovidius Naso)
