Move To Buckhead
In 1933, St. Philip's relocated to its present site at 2744 Peachtree Road NW. A gray wooden structure, known as the pro-cathedral, was erected and served the congregation as its house of worship while construction was begun on the cathedral. Mikell Chapel was completed in 1947, followed by De Ovies Memorial Hall in 1951. 1955 saw the completion of the Hall of Bishops, now renamed as Child Hall. In 1962, the Cathedral was completed and dedicated. The architect for most of the structures was Francis Palmer Smith in cooperation with Ayers and Goodwin. It was consecrated to the glory of God in 1980. In 2004, St. Philips engaged in a renovation of all existing structures and the addition of a large new wing north of De Ovies Memorial Hall as well as adding a glass atrium enclosing the former open-air courtyard adjacent to the Narthex.

Famous quotes containing the words move to and/or move:
“I was only one woman alone, and had no power to move to action full-fed, sleek- coated, ease-loving, pleasure-seeking, well-paid, and well-placed countrymen in this war- trampled, dead, old land, each one afraid that he should be called upon to do something.”
—Clara Barton (18211912)
“A mother wants all of life to be painless for her child. This is not a realistic goal, however. Deprivation and frustration are as much a part of life as gratification. It is some balance between these that a mother is looking for. To take the next step is always painful in part. It means relinquishing gratification on some level. If one is totally gratified where one is, why move ahead? If one is totally frustrated, why bother?”
—Elaine Heffner (20th century)
