Maresca was selected by the Italian under-20 team for the 2000 Toulon Tournament, and finished runner-up with the U18s in the 1999 UEFA European Football Championship.
He missed the 2002 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship tournament in Switzerland due to injury.
