Enrico Berlinguer - Impact On Italian Society

Impact On Italian Society

Italian singer-songwriter Antonello Venditti posthumously dedicated a song, Dolce Enrico ("Sweet Enrico"), to Berlinguer.

Italian actor and director Roberto Benigni declared publicly his admiration and personal love for Enrico Berlinguer. Beside having been protagonist of the movie Berlinguer ti voglio bene ("Berlinguer I love you"), Benigni appeared during a public political demonstration of the Italian Communist Party (of which he was a sympathiser), taking in his arms and dandling Berlinguer.

Italian folk music band Modena City Ramblers wrote a song about Berlinguer's funeral, "I Funerali di Berlinguer", which was published on their first full-length album, Riportando Tutto a Casa.

Famous quotes containing the words impact on, impact, italian and/or society:

Too many existing classrooms for young children have this overriding goal: To get the children ready for first grade. This goal is unworthy. It is hurtful. This goal has had the most distorting impact on five-year-olds. It causes kindergartens to be merely the handmaidens of first grade.... Kindergarten teachers cannot look at their own children and plan for their present needs as five-year-olds.
James L. Hymes, Jr. (20th century)

Conquest is the missionary of valour, and the hard impact of military virtues beats meanness out of the world.
    Walter Bagehot (1826–1877)

If the study of his images
Is the study of man, this image of Saturday,
This Italian symbol, this Southern landscape, is like
A waking, as in images we awake,
Within the very object that we seek,
    Participants of its being.
    Wallace Stevens (1879–1955)

There couldn’t be a society of people who didn’t dream. They’d be dead in two weeks.
    William Burroughs (b. 1914)
