Unfortunately, due to intervention from High Court the measures could not be taken against the owners of Rangs Bhaban. • He evicted the slum dwellers from Dhanmondi Lake and restored the lake with walkways and resting areas. Similarly he took steps to recover lake areas in Gulshan and Banani and restore the lake areas for public recreation, however, the government tenure ended before he could complete it. • He initiated the development of amphitheatre at the DC Hill in Chittagong along with a walkway and park for cultural activities and recreation.

Famous quotes containing the words role, cabinet and/or minister:

Is not our role to stand for the one thing which means our own salvation here but with which it will also be possible to save the world, and with which Europe will be able to save itself, namely the preservation of the white man and his state?
    Hendrik Verwoerd (1901–1966)

Fences, unlike punishments, clearly mark out the perimeters of any specified territory. Young children learn where it is permissible to play, because their backyard fence plainly outlines the safe area. They learn about the invisible fence that surrounds the stove, and that Grandma has an invisible barrier around her cabinet of antique teacups.
    Jeanne Elium (20th century)

[T]he dignity of parliament it seems can brook no opposition to it’s power. Strange that a set of men who have made sale of their virtue to the minister should yet talk of retaining dignity!
    Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826)
