Constituency Profile
The northernmost seat in Greater London, Enfield North is deeply suburban, almost village-like in parts where green belt legislation has kept housing development at bay, and has much in common with the adjoining county of Hertfordshire.
Deprivation levels are generally high, such as Ponders End, an area subject to significant social housing overspill developments in the 1960s which subsequently suffered considerable neglect. Two miles beyond, the tree-lined avenues of Enfield Chase are quiet and affluent.

Famous quotes containing the words constituency and/or profile:
“Social Security is a government program with a constituency made up of the old, the near old and those who hope or fear to grow old. After 215 years of trying, we have finally discovered a special interest that includes 100 percent of the population. Now we can vote ourselves rich.”
—P.J. (Patrick Jake)
“Nature centres into balls,
And her proud ephemerals,
Fast to surface and outside,
Scan the profile of the sphere;
Knew they what that signified,
A new genesis were here.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
