Enewetak Airfield

A 8,200-foot (2,500 m)long airstrip was built on the atoll in February and March of 1944 by U.S. forces for bomber missions in the area. It was later named for Lieutenant John H. Stickell. The airstrip is now abandoned and its surface partially covered by sand.
