In 1999, the company closed the 71 stores that operated under the Lauriat's, Book Corner and Encore names.

Pleasant it is, when over a great sea the winds trouble the waters, to gaze from shore upon another’s great tribulation; not because any man’s troubles are a delectable joy, but because to perceive you are free of them yourself is pleasant.
    Lucretius (Titus Lucretius Carus)

The price of telling your troubles is having to listen to advice.
    Mason Cooley (b. 1927)

The troubles which have come upon us always seem more serious than those which are only threatening.
