"Emotion" was recorded by R&B group Destiny's Child in 2001, it was produced and arranged by Mark J. Feist. It is a slower-tempo version than the Samantha Sang original, although a more uptempo Neptunes-produced remix of the song was also produced.
Destiny Child's remake appeared on their third studio album Survivor and was issued as that album's third (and in the US final) single. The Destiny's Child version of "Emotion", accompanied by a music video featuring a triple split screen effect, continued the group's streak of top-ten hits in the United States, peaking at number ten on the Billboard Hot 100 on 20 November 2001. It was also a hit in the United Kingdom, where it peaked at number three and sold over 145,000 copies. It won the Soul Train Lady of Soul Award for "Best R&B/Soul Single, Group, Band or Duo" ("Emotion").
"Emotion" debuted at number sixty-five on the Billboard Hot 100 on 29 September 2001 and reached its number-ten peak position during its tenth week. With the exception of "No, No, No Part One", this was Destiny's Child first ballad single and was quite well received reaching the top ten in several countries including New Zealand, Ireland, and the Netherlands.
The song was heavily on radio station playlists during the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 attacks, and eventually became a tribute song to the family of the victims.

Famous quotes containing the words destiny, child and/or version:
“Give up the feeling of responsibility, let go your hold, resign the care of your destiny to higher powers, be genuinely indifferent as to what becomes of it all and you will find not only that you gain a perfect inward relief, but often also, in addition, the particular goods you sincerely thought you were renouncing.”
—William James (18421910)
“A young child is no longer simply a child; he or she is a preschooler, poised at the starting gate in the race of life.”
—Neil Kurshan (20th century)
“It is never the thing but the version of the thing:
The fragrance of the woman not her self,
Her self in her manner not the solid block,
The day in its color not perpending time,
Time in its weather, our most sovereign lord,
The weather in words and words in sounds of sound.”
—Wallace Stevens (18791955)
