Emily Shard

Lady Emily Tsering Shard (née Lascelles, born 23 November 1975 in Bath, Somerset) is the eldest child and only daughter of the 8th Earl of Harewood, a British film producer who is the eldest son of the 7th Earl of Harewood (himself a first cousin of the Queen). Emily and her brother, Benjamin, were born out of wedlock and therefore have no claims to the Harewood titles, nor places in the line of succession to the British throne. Their two younger brothers are legitimate. Though they were born illegitimate, Emily and Benjamin were later legitimized by the Privy Council and given the titles befitting children of a viscount (and after their father inherited the family earldom, of an earl), though not the rank that would come from being born in wedlock. This means that although Emily enjoys the style and formal address of "Lady Emily", she and Benjamin are not entitled to any claims on the Harewood titles.

Like her father, Emily is a film producer, and has worked as production coordinator and assistant production coordinator on several high-profile films, including Syriana, Alexander, Cold Mountain, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Quills, and all three films in the Lord of the Rings film trilogy. She has also worked as production coordinator on the television series Man vs. Wild.

At a Privy Council meeting on 12 February 2008, the Queen gave Royal Consent to the marriage between the Hon. Emily Lascelles and Matthew Shard (born 1975 in Stockport). The couple married sometime in 2008 and have twins, a boy and a girl, Isaac and Ida.
