It is a mixed school with around one thousand children on roll for ages 11-16, it became a specialist sports college in 2004. It is situated just east of Emerson Park, between Hornchurch and Upminster. It is on the London Outer Orbital Path - the London LOOP, and just west of the Ingrebourne River.
