Sports and Clubs
Elmhurst's athletic department consisted of more than 20 IHSAA sports including the following for both boys and girls: cross-country, soccer, tennis, basketball, track and field, swim and dive, bowling, and golf. Football, wrestling, and baseball were also offered for boys, while softball, volleyball, gymnastics, and cheerleading were offered for girls. All sanctioned sports competed in the Summit Athletic Conference. In its final year, the Elmhurst Boy's Basketball team won the 3A Regional title.
On March 7, 2009, the Elmhurst Girls Basketball team brought home the first state championship for any team sport in the school's history, defeating Owen Valley 62-59 to win the Class 3A title.
Some clubs included jazz band, band, show choir, creative writing club, theatre and drama, orchestra, winter drum line, speech, marching band, winter guard, dance team, campus life, science, robotics team, French, Spanish, and National Honor Society.

Famous quotes containing the words sports and/or clubs:

Delight in them sets off. Some kinds of baseness
Are nobly undergone, and most poor matters
Point to rich ends.”

“It is always a practical difficulty with clubs to regulate the laws of election so as to exclude peremptorily every social nuisance. Nobody wishes bad manners. We must have loyalty and character.”
