Electron Beam Machining - Process

Process

To achieve the fast evaporation of the material, the power planar density in the beam cross-section must be as high as possible: - values up to 10^7 W/mm^2 can be achieved at the spot of impact. As the electrons transfer their kinetic energy into heat in a very small volume, the material impacted by the beam is evaporated in very short time.

Famous quotes containing the word process:

When you start with a portrait and search for a pure form, a clear volume, through successive eliminations, you arrive inevitably at the egg. Likewise, starting with the egg and following the same process in reverse, one finishes with the portrait.
    Pablo Picasso (1881–1973)

At last a vision has been vouchsafed to us of our life as a whole. We see the bad with the good.... With this vision we approach new affairs. Our duty is to cleanse, to reconsider, to restore, to correct the evil without impairing the good, to purify and humanize every process of our common life, without weakening or sentimentalizing it.
    Woodrow Wilson (1856–1924)

A designer who is not also a couturier, who hasn’t learned the most refined mysteries of physically creating his models, is like a sculptor who gives his drawings to another man, an artisan, to accomplish. For him the truncated process of creating will always be an interrupted act of love, and his style will bear the shame of it, the impoverishment.
    Yves Saint Laurent (b. 1936)
