Eggshell in Human Culture

Interior design

  • The color eggshell is commonly used in interior design when one desires a pale warm neutral off-white color. However eggshell paint also refers to a type of hard-wearing wall paint with the same matte sheen as an egg's shell, rather than the same color; consequently eggshell paint can be any color, not just off-white. A light blue color is a common for eggshell.

Famous quotes containing the words eggshell, human and/or culture:

    A doll’s hair concealing
    an eggshell skull delicately
    throbbing, within which
    maggots in voluptuous unrest
    jostle and shrug.
    Denise Levertov (b. 1923)

Nature predominates over the human will in all works of even the fine arts, in all that respects their material and external circumstances. Nature paints the best part of the picture, carves the best of the statue, builds the best part of the house, and speaks the best part of the oration.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

The first time many women hold their tiny babies, they are apt to feel as clumsy and incompetent as any man. The difference is that our culture tells them they’re not supposed to feel that way. Our culture assumes that they will quickly learn how to be a mother, and that assumption rubs off on most women—so they learn.
    Pamela Patrick Novotny (20th century)
