Edward Zuber - War Artist

War Artist

When the Gulf War began, the experience of Canadian forces during "Operation Friction" was captured by the Canadian Armed Forces Civilian Artists Program (CAFCAP). Zuber was selected from among a field of other applicants; and during his time in Qatar, he was recognized as an "official war artist."

Zuber served in the Gulf War Theatre from 21 January to 3 March 1991 as Canada's Official War Artist.

Famous quotes containing the words war and/or artist:

We only know war lasts, rain soaks, and clouds sag stormy.
    Wilfred Owen (1893–1918)

Well then! Wagner was a revolutionary—he fled the Germans.... As an artist one has no home in Europe outside Paris: the délicatesse in all five artistic senses that is presupposed by Wagner’s art, the fingers for nuances, the psychological morbidity are found only in Paris. Nowhere else is this passion in questions of form to be found, this seriousness in mise en scène—which is Parisian seriousness par excellence.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)
