Books and Papers
Freeman's personal library of some 6,500 volumes was bought for Owens College by the trustees of Sir Joseph Whitworth and there it remains, though no longer kept together. A catalogue of it was issued by the college: Tait, James (comp.) (1894) Catalogue of the Freeman Library Presented to the Owens College by the Legatees of Sir Joseph Whitworth, Bart. Manchester: T. Sowler. Most of the Freeman collection is at the John Rylands University Library, Oxford Road. His papers, which include works in manuscript, correspondence and 6,2000 architectural drawings of European churches are in the John Rylands Library.

Famous quotes containing the words books and/or papers:
“The books may say that nine-month-olds crawl, say their first words, and are afraid of strangers. Your exuberantly concrete and special nine-month-old hasnt read them. She may be walking already, not saying a word and smiling gleefully at every stranger she sees. . . . You can support her best by helping her learn what shes trying to learn, not what the books say a typical child ought to be learning.”
—Amy Laura Dombro (20th century)
“To a historian libraries are food, shelter, and even muse. They are of two kinds: the library of published material, books, pamphlets, periodicals, and the archive of unpublished papers and documents.”
—Barbara Tuchman (19121989)
