Bowl Appearances
In 1971, the school's last season as an independent team, they went 7-0-2 in the regular season, before losing 14-3 to Louisiana Tech in the 1971 Pioneer Bowl in Wichita Falls, Texas.
In 1987, following the school's only MAC championship, and the first in any conference in 30 years, the team went on to upset 17½ point favorite San Jose State University in the 1987 California Bowl in Fresno, California, for the only bowl game win in school history.
