Eastern Iowa Community College District - Educational Programs

Educational Programs

EICCD’s three colleges offer both college transfer and career technology programs. More than 8,000 students are enrolled in the colleges each semester. The colleges also offer an online Associate in Arts Degree program in cooperation with the Iowa Community College Online Consortium.

As a comprehensive community college, EICCD’s programs stretch beyond traditional college classes. The district offers a wide range of worker training and re-training programs through its Business and Industry Center. These classes are delivered on both a credit and non-credit basis. In addition, area residents have the opportunity to take advantage of Continuing Education classes that allow them to pursue a particular interest or hobby. More than 40,000 students will complete Business and Industry Center and Continuing Education classes each year.

Famous quotes containing the words educational and/or programs:

We do not have to get our children to learn; only to allow and encourage them in their learning. We do not have to dictate what they should learn; only to discern and respond to what it is that they are learning. Such responsiveness is at once the most educational and the most loving.
    Polly Berrien Berends (20th century)

Although good early childhood programs can benefit all children, they are not a quick fix for all of society’s ills—from crime in the streets to adolescent pregnancy, from school failure to unemployment. We must emphasize that good quality early childhood programs can help change the social and educational outcomes for many children, but they are not a panacea; they cannot ameliorate the effects of all harmful social and psychological environments.
    Barbara Bowman (20th century)
