East Coast Lagoon is a man-made lagoon located at East Coast Park in Singapore. There is a barrier separating the sea with the lagoon. This barrier can be opened to allow fresh sea water to mix with the water from the lagoon. The lagoon is currently used by Ski 360°, a cable ski centre. A walkway leads around the lagoon.
The lagoon can be reached by car via the East Coast Park Service Road. A Hawker Centre is located towards the east of the lagoon.
Famous quotes containing the words east and/or coast:
“The Indians knew that life was equated with the earth and its resources, that America was a paradise, and they could not comprehend why the intruders from the East were determined to destroy all that was Indian as well as America itself.”
—Dee Brown (b. 1908)
“Frequently also some fair-weather finery ripped off a vessel by a storm near the coast was nailed up against an outhouse. I saw fastened to a shed near the lighthouse a long new sign with the words ANGLO SAXON on it in large gilt letters, as if it were a useless part which the ship could afford to lose, or which the sailors had discharged at the same time with the pilot. But it interested somewhat as if it had been a part of the Argo, clipped off in passing through the Symplegades.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
