Earls of Richmond, 10th Creation (1452)

  • Edmund Tudor, 1st Earl of Richmond (1430–1456)
  • Henry Tudor, 2nd Earl of Richmond (1456–1509); the title was deemed forfeit in 1461 by the Yorkists, yet Henry was recognised as indisputable heir by Francis II, Duke of Brittany, who surrendered his rights to him and aided his side in the Battle of Bosworth Field, after which became Henry VII. The Honour of Richmond became a personal fief of the Tudor dynasty.

Famous quotes containing the words earls and/or creation:

It is not stressful circumstances, as such, that do harm to children. Rather, it is the quality of their interpersonal relationships and their transactions with the wider social and material environment that lead to behavioral, emotional, and physical health problems. If stress matters, it is in terms of how it influences the relationships that are important to the child.
    —Felton Earls (20th century)

There have been heroes for whom this world seemed expressly prepared, as if creation had at last succeeded; whose daily life was the stuff of which our dreams are made, and whose presence enhanced the beauty and ampleness of Nature herself.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
