Air Multiplier Technology
Dyson Air Multiplier and Dyson Hot use air multiplier technology, claiming they can circulate air without the need for blades. In fact the blades are hidden in the base and force air up into the exhaust vent, which is shaped like a large circle. Dyson claims air flow is multiplied 15x by the Air Multiplier (the circular exhaust vent) and 6x by the Dyson Hot, providing a smooth stream of air. However, the total airflow is lower for the amount of energy consumed than for a more conventional fan.

Famous quotes containing the words air and/or technology:
“As far as I can see, this autumn haze
That spreading in the evening air both ways
Makes the new moon look anything but new
And pours the elm-tree meadow full of blue,
Is all the smoke from one poor house alone....”
—Robert Frost (18741963)
“The real accomplishment of modern science and technology consists in taking ordinary men, informing them narrowly and deeply and then, through appropriate organization, arranging to have their knowledge combined with that of other specialized but equally ordinary men. This dispenses with the need for genius. The resulting performance, though less inspiring, is far more predictable.”
—John Kenneth Galbraith (b. 1908)
