Criticisms of These Defence Projects
Dynamit Nobel AG, as well as the company which took its place in the defence projects field, the Dynamit Nobel Defence GmbH were often heavily criticised due to the mines system they manufactured. Since the creation of Bundeswehr, the company has delivered 3,2 millions of land mines. In 1992 the company had the following advertising tag line «Dynamit Nobel — the first address for the mines» in specialised magazines.
Today, in the Bundeswehr controversial antitank mines manufactured by Dynamit Nobel can still be found. It is suspected that they can also be used against people and are nowadays officially prohibited by the Ottawa convention. In 2003, an amount of 1,2 million of these mines was estimated.

Famous quotes containing the words criticisms of, criticisms, defence and/or projects:
“I have no concern with any economic criticisms of the communist system; I cannot enquire into whether the abolition of private property is expedient or advantageous. But I am able to recognize that the psychological premises on which the system is based are an untenable illusion. In abolishing private property we deprive the human love of aggression of one of its instruments ... but we have in no way altered the differences in power and influence which are misused by aggressiveness.”
—Sigmund Freud (18561939)

“Sow seedbut let no tyrant reap;
Find wealthlet no imposter heap;
Weave robeslet not the idle wear;
Forge armsin your defence to bear.”
—Percy Bysshe Shelley (17921822)
“But look what we have built ... low-income projects that become worse centers of delinquency, vandalism and general social hopelessness than the slums they were supposed to replace.... Cultural centers that are unable to support a good bookstore. Civic centers that are avoided by everyone but bums.... Promenades that go from no place to nowhere and have no promenaders. Expressways that eviscerate great cities. This is not the rebuilding of cities. This is the sacking of cities.”
—Jane Jacobs (b. 1916)
