Dupuytren's Contracture - International Dupuytren Society

International Dupuytren Society

The society was founded by Dr. Wolfgang Wach. It runs an independent website and forum discussing different treatment options in which patients and medical experts co-operate.

As part of its independence it does not receive payment from hospitals and is non-profit.

The philosophy is to be inclusive, discussing all types of treatment types and bringing together doctors from different treatment disciplines.

Dr. Wach has been a Dupuytrens patient himself and presented at the International Symposium on Dupuytrens Disease in Miami in 2010. In his recorded presentation he discussed receiving radiation therapy 30 years before on one hand and also at a later time receiving hand surgery on the other.

Charles Eaton, (MD, Jupiter, Florida, USA) and Prof. Heinrich Seegenschmiedt, (Hamburg, Germany) act jointly as Chairman with Dr Wach.

Famous quotes containing the word society:

... married women work and neglect their children because the duties of the homemaker become so depreciated that women feel compelled to take a job in order to hold the respect of the community. It is one thing if women work, as many of them must, to help support the family. It is quite another thing—it is destructive of woman’s freedom—if society forces her out of the home and into the labor market in order that she may respect herself and gain the respect of others.
    Agnes E. Meyer (1887–1970)
