Famous quotes containing the words blow and/or downs:
“To finish a work? To finish a picture? What nonsense! To finish it means to be through with it, to kill it, to rid it of its soul, to give it its final blow ... the coup de grâce for the painter as well as for the picture.”
—Pablo Picasso (18811973)
“Do you see that kitten chasing so prettily her own tail? If you could look with her eyes, you might see her surrounded with hundreds of figures performing complex dramas, with tragic and comic issues, long conversations, many characters, many ups and downs of fate, and meantime it is only puss and her tail.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
