Cagiva Takeover
Cagiva SpA (from CAstiglioni GIovanni VArese) took over Ducati Meccanica in 1985. Ducati engines promptly appeared in Cagiva-badged motorcycles.
The 650SL continued to be produced after the Cagiva take-over, and ended production in 1986. The Cagiva Alazzurra was a redesigned Ducati Pantah.
For the full history of the ensuing Pantah based motors see Ducati Air-cooled V Twins (1970 on).

Famous quotes containing the word takeover:
“A poet is a combination of an instrument and a human being in one person, with the former gradually taking over the latter. The sensation of this takeover is responsible for timbre; the realization of it, for destiny.”
—Joseph Brodsky (b. 1940)
