Live Performances
Madonna named her 2001 Drowned World Tour after the song, which was also performed as the opening number of the same tour. Madonna entered the stage amidst billows of dry ice, dressed in a sleeveless black top, crossover top with one net sleeve, jeans with zips and bondage straps, a studded dog collar and a tartan kilt and performed the song standing on a rising platform on the middle of the stage. Also, the last lyrics from the song ("Now, I find I changed my mind. This is my religion") were used at the end of the performance of "Ray of Light". 5 years later, Madonna included the song on her seventh tour, the Confessions Tour of 2006. The song was performed without any choreography or backdrop video and only featured Madonna sitting on the middle of the stage singing the song. The song was cut from the NBC special, The Confessions Tour - Live from London, which aired on November 22, 2006, but it was included on the full-length DVD release.

Famous quotes containing the words live and/or performances:
“When I was very young and first worked in Hollywood, the films had bred in me one sole ambition: to get away from them; to live in the great world outside movies; to meet people who created their own situations through living them; who ad-libbed their own dialogue; whose jokes were not the contrivance of some gag writer.”
—Anita Loos (18881981)
“This play holds the seasons record [for early closing], thus far, with a run of four evening performances and one matinee. By an odd coincidence it ran just five performances too many.”
—Dorothy Parker (18931967)
