A drovers' road, drove or droveway is a route for droving livestock on foot from one place to another, such as to market or between summer and winter pasture (see transhumance). Many drovers' roads were ancient routes of unknown age; others are known to date back to medieval or more recent times.

Famous quotes containing the word road:
“There is a road that turning always
Cuts off the country of Again.
Archers stand there on every side
And as it runs times deer is slain,
And lies where it has lain.”
