Use of Drones For Musical Training
Drones are used by a number of music education programs for ear training and pitch awareness, as well as a way to improvise ensemble music. A Shruti box is often used by vocalists in this style of musical training.
As an alternative to a music theory approach to interval analysis, multiple drones can be used in exercises that take a humanistic or experiential approach to musical intervals.

Famous quotes containing the words drones, musical and/or training:
“Just as the queen bee, the highest-ranking, peerless creature of her hive, is surrounded by lowly drones to please her, whereas the workers produce honey, the same way is the one who sits on the throne an equal only to himself, and no ones companion.”
—Franz Grillparzer (17911872)
“Then, bringing me the joy we feel when wee see a work by our favorite painter which differs from any other that we know, or if we are led before a painting of which we have until then only seen a pencil sketch, if a musical piece heard only on the piano appears before us clothed in the colors of the orchestra, my grandfather called me the [hawthorn] hedge at Tansonville, saying, You who are so fond of hawthorns, look at this pink thorn, isnt it lovely?”
—Marcel Proust (18711922)
“... the time will come when no servant will be hired without a diploma from some training school, and a girl will as much expect to fit herself for house-maid or cook, as for dressmaker or any trade.”
—Lydia Hoyt Farmer (18421903)
