Downsview (TTC) - Viva Bus Rapid Transit

Viva Bus Rapid Transit

Downsview Station is served by the Orange line of York Region’s Viva bus rapid transit system. Service began on October 16, 2005.

Viva buses stop three times at Downsview. Buses offload all of their passengers at a stop outside station entrance before proceeding within the bus terminal to pick up passengers. This is to ensure that Viva riders do not access the TTC without paying a TTC fare, as the bus terminal is inside the station's fare paid zone. After this, they stop a third time, on westbound Sheppard Avenue, to pick up passengers who did not transfer from the subway or a TTC bus.

This Vivastation is considered a Viva ‘terminal’. Therefore, there are multiRide ticket vending machines available.

Famous quotes containing the words bus, rapid and/or transit:

There was an old man from Darjeeling
Who got on a bus bound for Ealing.
    It said at the door,
“Please don’t spit on the floor,”
So he carefully spat on the ceiling.
    Anonymous.

In a time of confusion and rapid change like the present, when terms are continually turning inside out and the names of things hardly keep their meaning from day to day, it’s not possible to write two honest paragraphs without stopping to take crossbearings on every one of the abstractions that were so well ranged in ornate marble niches in the minds of our fathers.
    John Dos Passos (1896–1970)

There’s that popular misconception of man as something between a brute and an angel. Actually man is in transit between brute and God.
    Norman Mailer (b. 1923)
