Donald Brashear - International Play

International Play

Brashear has represented the United States on two separate occasions. He made his international debut at the 1997 World Championship where he registered 2 goals and 5 points in 8 games, helping the Americans to a 6th place finish. He later noted that he was surprised by the invitation, but felt that it gave him an opportunity to show he could play other roles besides being an enforcer. He played for Team USA again the following year at the World Championship playing in 6 games and accumulating 10 penalty minutes as the Americans finished in 12th place.

Famous quotes containing the word play:

My first big mistake was made when, in a moment of weakness, I consented to learn the game; for a man who can frankly say “I do not play bridge” is allowed to go over in the corner and run the pianola by himself, while the poor neophyte, no matter how much he may protest that he isn’t “at all a good player, in fact I’m perfectly rotten,” is never believed, but dragged into a game where it is discovered, too late, that he spoke the truth.
    Robert Benchley (1889–1945)
