Watch Tower Presidency
Adams became president of the Watch Tower Society after Governing Body member Milton G. Henschel stepped down from the position in 2000. In that year, members of the Governing Body resigned from their executive positions of the corporations of Jehovah's Witnesses, although the periodical Christianity Today reported that the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses would continue its "oversight" role.
Adams' presidency is administrative, and he is not considered to have impacted the organization's ministry as have past Watch Tower Society presidents. Adams' brother Joel C. Adams is a vice-president of Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, Inc., a related corporation.

Famous quotes containing the words watch, tower and/or presidency:
“And what other great nation has statutes and ordinances as just as this entire law that I am setting before you today? But take care and watch yourselves closely, so as neither to forget the things that your eyes have seen nor to let them slip from your mind all the days of your life; make them known to your children and your childrens children...”
—Bible: Hebrew, Deuteronomy 4:8,9.
“Out in Hollywood, where the streets are paved with Goldwyn, the word sophisticate means, very simply, obscene. A sophisticated story is a dirty story. Some of that meaning was wafted eastward and got itself mixed up into the present definition. So that a sophisticate means: one who dwells in a tower made of a DuPont substitute for ivory and holds a glass of flat champagne in one hand and an album of dirty post cards in the other.”
—Dorothy Parker (18931967)
“I once told Nixon that the Presidency is like being a jackass caught in a hail storm. Youve got to just stand there and take it.”
—Lyndon Baines Johnson (19081973)
