Reception
Anish Khanna of Planet Bollywood gave the film 8.5 out of 10. Faisal Shariff of Rediff criticised the film for a perceived lack of subtlety and poor acting from secondary characters. Doli Saja Ke Rakhna performed poorly at the box office. In a 2000 interview with India Today, Priyadarshan said that he "lapsed into depression" after the film flopped.
