Famous quotes containing the words circuit, court, appeals and/or ruling:

We are all hostages, and we are all terrorists. This circuit has replaced that other one of masters and slaves, the dominating and the dominated, the exploiters and the exploited.... It is worse than the one it replaces, but at least it liberates us from liberal nostalgia and the ruses of history.
    Jean Baudrillard (b. 1929)

We should have learnt by now that laws and court decisions can only point the way. They can establish criteria of right and wrong. Hubert H. Humphrey (1911–1978)

No rules exist, and examples are simply life-savers answering the appeals of rules making vain attempts to exist.
    André Breton (1896–1966)

We are the only class in history that has been left to fight its battles alone, unaided by the ruling powers. White labor and the freed black men had their champions, but where are ours?
    Elizabeth Cady Stanton (1815–1902)
