Documentary New Zealand Trust - The Screen Edge Forum

The Screen Edge Forum

The Screen Edge Forum (previously known as DOCNZ Summit and Documentary Edge Forum) is an annual pan-screen industry event covering documentary, transmedia and other screen industry topics.

Held since 2006, the Forum seeks to engage the screen industry in innovative ways to create and fund all kinds of screen production. It includes seminars, panels, master-classes, and a pitching forum. The Forum is a place to update your tool-box with cutting-edge ideas and network with local and international professionals and experts.

It brings together local and overseas filmmakers/industry to share, network and learn from each other. It also aims to bring a business side to proceedings by facilitating local filmmakers to present their ideas to potential local and international funders, buyers, broadcasters and festival programmers.

The Screen Edge Forum runs a DOC Pitch which brings together international and local funders and production companies to listen to filmmakers pitch documentary projects so as to seek production and funding opportunities and collaborations.

Many Pitch Projects have been developed as a result including:

  • The Relocated Mountain, Julia Parnell
  • The Topp Twins, Arani Cuthbert

Famous quotes containing the words edge and/or forum:

    So God stepped over to the edge of the world
    And He spat out the seven seas;
    He batted His eyes, and the lightnings flashed;
    He clapped His hands, and the thunders rolled;
    And the waters above the earth came down,
    The cooling waters came down.
    James Weldon Johnson (1871–1938)

    If I should ever decide in the future to discuss my deep Christian beliefs and condemnation and sinfulness, I would use another forum besides Playboy.
    Jimmy Carter (James Earl Carter, Jr.)
