Preferred Share Dividend Yield

Dividend payments on preferred shares ("preference shares" in the UK) are set out in the prospectus. The name of the preferred share will typically include its yield at par: for example, a 6% preferred share. However, the dividend may under some circumstances be passed or reduced. The yield is the ratio of the annual dividend to the current market price, which will vary.

Famous quotes containing the words preferred, share and/or yield:

I don’t know whether I could have managed marriage and a career. Personally, I preferred a career. There are no distractions.
    Adele Deleeuw (1899–1988)

The sacred obligation to the Union soldiers must not—will not be forgotten nor neglected.... But those who fought against the Nation cannot and do not look to it for relief.... Confederate soldiers and their descendants are to share with us and our descendants the destiny of America. Whatever, therefore, we their fellow citizens can do to remove burdens from their shoulders and to brighten their lives is surely in the pathway of humanity and patriotism.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)

They are not callow like the young of most birds, but more perfectly developed and precocious even than chickens. The remarkably adult yet innocent expression of their open and serene eyes is very memorable. All intelligence seems reflected in them. They suggest not merely the purity of infancy, but a wisdom clarified by experience. Such an eye was not born when the bird was, but is coeval with the sky it reflects. The woods do not yield another such a gem.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
