The District Council of Alexandrina was a small local government area in regional South Australia, centred on Clayton on the shore of Lake Alexandrina. It was amalgamated into the District Council of Strathalbyn prior to 1900.
For the Council with the similar name now covering the area, see Alexandrina Council.
Famous quotes containing the words district and/or council:
“Most works of art, like most wines, ought to be consumed in the district of their fabrication.”
—Rebecca West (18921983)
“I havent seen so much tippy-toeing around since the last time I went to the ballet. When members of the arts community were asked this week about one of their biggest benefactors, Philip Morris, and its requests that they lobby the New York City Council on the companys behalf, the pas de deux of self- justification was so painstakingly choreographed that it constituted a performance all by itself.”
—Anna Quindlen (b. 1952)
