A Disney spokesperson confirmed on February 4, 2009 that the Disney Channel Games would not be held in that year due to lack of actor availability due to program filming, concert tours, time off and other reasons. Instead the network has instead devoted charity efforts under the Disney's Friends for Change initiative. Likewise, an edition in 2010 was unplanned.
