Resources
DG Information Society and Media is one of the larger DGs in the European Commission with around 1100 employees in Brussels and Luxembourg, and around one fifth of the total EU research budget. A significant part of its activities is devoted to research in areas where it can provide stimulus and support to Member State research, including coordination, co-operation, standardisation and long-term basic research activities.

Famous quotes containing the word resources:
“When we want culture more than potatoes, and illumination more than sugar-plums, then the great resources of a world are taxed and drawn out, and the result, or staple production, is, not slaves, nor operatives, but men, those rare fruits called heroes, saints, poets, philosophers, and redeemers.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“The old, subjective, stagnant, indolent and wretched life for woman has gone. She has as many resources as men, as many activities beckon her on. As large possibilities swell and inspire her heart.”
—Anna Julia Cooper (18591964)
“How many inner resources one needs to tolerate a life of leisure without fatigue”
—Natalie Clifford Barney (18761972)
