Dibden Purlieu - Schools

Schools

Dibden Purlieu has two large secondary schools; Noadswood School and Applemore Technology College. Totton College also has a small campus in the village specialising in adult education services.

Primary education is provided at Wildground, in Armitage Avenue. The junior school opened on this site in 1962, with the infants' premises following two years later. Prior to that, the school had occupied temporary accommodation in Lunedale Road, which later included use of the adjacent Women's Institute Hall. The village now additionally hosts the separate Orchard Infant and Orchard Junior schools on Water Lane, adjacent to the Noadswood School complex.

Famous quotes containing the word schools:

We’re for statehood. We want statehood because statehood means the protection of our farms and our fences; and it means schools for our children; and it means progress for the future.
    Willis Goldbeck (1900–1979)

Good schools are schools for the development of the whole child. They seek to help children develop to their maximum their social powers and their intellectual powers, their emotional capacities, their physical powers.
James L. Hymes, Jr. (20th century)

To be a Negro is to participate in a culture of poverty and fear that goes far deeper than any law for or against discrimination.... After the racist statutes are all struck down, after legal equality has been achieved in the schools and in the courts, there remains the profound institutionalized and abiding wrong that white America has worked on the Negro for so long.
    Michael Harrington (1928–1989)
