Dia Abdul Zahra Kadim - Death

Death

Zahra Kadim was killed during a fierce gun battle with United States, British, and New Iraqi army forces in Najaf on January 29, 2007. He was found wearing jeans, a coat, and a hat, in addition to being armed with two pistols. He was thirty-seven years old.

The footage appeared to show the body of Dia Abdul Zahra Kadim, wrapped in a blanket. His face, with a neatly trimmed beard, matched a photo in a pamphlet found at the site entitled "Holy Coming", which identified him as the Mahdi.

Apparently, he had been claiming he was the Mahdi, in efforts to hide his real identity and recruit new members to the cult.

Famous quotes containing the word death:

I agree that we should work and prolong the functions of life as far as we can, and hope that Death may find me planting my cabbages, but indifferent to him and still more to the unfinished state of my garden.
    Michel de Montaigne (1533–1592)

You know, if this is Venus, or some other strange planet, we’re liable to run into some high-domed characters with green blood in their veins who’ll blast at us with their atomic death rayguns, and there we’ll be with these—these poor old-fashioned shootin’ irons.
    Edward L. Bernds (b. 1911)

Oh Death he is a little man,
And he goes from do’ to do’ ...
—Federal Writers’ Project Of The Wor, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)
