Weaknesses

In 2004, Landon Curt Noll, Simon Cooper, and Mel Pleasant tested a variety of random number generators, including the /dev/random implementations in FreeBSD 5.2.1, Linux 2.4.21-20, Solaris 8 patch 108528-18, and Mac OS X 10.3.5. They indicated that none of these /dev/random implementations were cryptographically secure because their outputs had uniformity flaws.

Famous quotes containing the word weaknesses:

A doctor, like anyone else who has to deal with human beings, each of them unique, cannot be a scientist; he is either, like the surgeon, a craftsman, or, like the physician and the psychologist, an artist.... This means that in order to be a good doctor a man must also have a good character, that is to say, whatever weaknesses and foibles he may have, he must love his fellow human beings in the concrete and desire their good before his own.
    —W.H. (Wystan Hugh)

You will find that reason, which always ought to direct mankind, seldom does; but that passions and weaknesses commonly usurp its seat, and rule in its stead.
Philip Dormer Stanhope, 4th Earl Chesterfield (1694–1773)

To “give style” to one’s character—a rare and noble art! Those practice it who compass all that their natures present as strengths and weaknesses and then fit them into an artistic plan until every one appears as art and reason and even weakness enchants the eye.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)
