The Detroit Area Library Network (DALNET) is a multi-type library consortium located on the campus of Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, USA. The consortium, incorporated in 1985, is open to academic, public, school and special libraries as well as information organizations located in any of the seven Southeast Michigan, Metropolitan Detroit counties, including Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, St. Clair, Monroe, Livingston, and Washtenaw counties.
To make a regional information gateway possible, consortium members agree to share in projects that include the "DALNET Information Gateway" of online library systems, resource sharing services and cooperations, and other digital information projects. The consortium also hosts the healthcalendar.org project, a website calendar listing health-related, group events to citizens in the region.
Famous quotes containing the words area, library and/or network:
“Now for civil service reform. Legislation must be prepared and executive rules and maxims. We must limit and narrow the area of patronage. We must diminish the evils of office-seeking. We must stop interference of federal officers with elections. We must be relieved of congressional dictation as to appointments.”
—Rutherford Birchard Hayes (18221893)
“To a historian libraries are food, shelter, and even muse. They are of two kinds: the library of published material, books, pamphlets, periodicals, and the archive of unpublished papers and documents.”
—Barbara Tuchman (19121989)
“How have I been able to live so long outside Nature without identifying myself with it? Everything lives, moves, everything corresponds; the magnetic rays, emanating either from myself or from others, cross the limitless chain of created things unimpeded; it is a transparent network that covers the world, and its slender threads communicate themselves by degrees to the planets and stars. Captive now upon earth, I commune with the chorus of the stars who share in my joys and sorrows.”
—Gérard De Nerval (18081855)
