Destroyer: Resurrected
In late 2011, Simmons stated that a deluxe edition of Destroyer would be released. The original release date was slated for February 28, 2012, however it was pushed to April 17. The album, titled Destroyer: Resurrected, was eventually released on August 21, 2012. and includes original album remixed plus an alternate mix of "Sweet Pain" adding back the original guitar solo played by Ace Frehley, as well as an additional vocal snippet in "Beth" and remixed versions of other aspects of the album. It features artwork that was not used on the original release, rejected by Casablanca Records for depicting violence, and featuring the old Alive! outfits. The album was remixed from the original DAT tapes, rather than remastered. This sustained the albums clean sound, rather than resulting in loudness war
Following this album's release, Destroyer: Resurrected has been met with positive reception. William Clark of Guitar International wrote: "Each track sounds crisper, clearer and louder, which are always welcome qualities when you’re listening to a classic album of the likes of Destroyer". The album returned to the Billboard charts, debuting at #11 the week after its re-release.
